Functional Limitations

Hand Use

Potential problems:  Weak, shaky or clumsy hands

Examples:  Difficulty playing a musical instrument.  Unable to turn on electronic toys.  Difficulty grasping puzzle pieces.

Reaching/Lifting

Potential problems:  Weak, shaky or inflexible arms

Examples:  Unsteady when handling cooking or craft materials.

Hearing

Potential problems:  Poor hearing or deafness

Examples:  Difficulty hearing instructions or communicating during games or when eating out.

Speech

Potential problems:  Unable to say words

Examples:  Difficulty ordering food in a restaurant.

Memory/Organization

Potential problems:  Poor memory, confusion

Examples:  Difficulty understanding game or puzzle instructions.  Unable to play multi-step games.  Difficulty selecting food and ordering in a restaurant.

Vision

Potential problems:  Poor vision or blindness

Examples:  Unable to read standard playing cards.  Can't see where to place standard puzzle pieces.

Mobility/Balance

Potential problems:  Unsteady or unable to walk or stand

Examples:  Unsteady when using craft or game materials.
